Wasting A Skill

Many new hams have acquired a new skill. It is a CW skill. Any skill that is not put in use will eventually disappear and waste. So might as well use it. The RTTY, Amtor and other digital modes of communications are not skill based. A CW is something special. BUT many new hams do not apply the skill. Monitoring the CW portion on the ham band we can hear plenty of hams using their skill to the utmost, pounding and plapping the electronic keys.

You don't have to wait until you reach 25 wpm to come on the band. There are a few hundred stations that pound at below 10 wpm. Even the fast CWer would reduce their speed to accommodate the caller who called at 10 wpm. In fact we can earn about human nature and sometimes find so many humble and patient people in the world.

While working at the low speed you can, you can tutor yourself to enhance your speed until to have attain your target. Practice makes perfect. Live practice injects confidence and self esteem. So do come out and use your skill. Slowly slowly catch the monkey. Sikit sikit lama-lama jadi bukit.
